Weekly Beers

Beers of the week that you should try. Jeff and Jon's personal recommendations, updated weekly. Next weekly update is 5/30/11.

5/23/11

Jon says: Herp Slerp.

Jeff says: I'll be honest, I've been on a bit of a hiatus recently, so I really haven't tried many new beers. However, I did have one that stood out in my mind, and that was the Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shutdown Ale. I'm not sure if the interesting name had anything to do with it, but this ale definitely stands out in my mind. It was a nice mixture of sweet malts and bitter hops, something I'm normally opposed of, but it just worked well here. Highly alcoholic, too, but you won't taste it.

5/16/11

Jon says: I just recently had this beer, though Jeff gave it a bad review cause he hates hoppy beers, but I really enjoyed it.  The beer was Victory Hopdevil, if you want to read Jeffs hate click the name.  I would of given this beer a pretty good review.  If you are like me and like hoppy beers you should try this.  If you are like Jeff you probably will feel the same was as Jeff did about it.

Jeff says: This week I'm going to give my recommendation to Paulaner Premium Pils. It was definitely one of the better pilsners I've had in a while, and I think that alone deserves mention on the weekly list. If you like a good pilsner, it won't disappoint!

5/9/11

Jon says: My beer for this week is going to be the Boulder Mojo IPA for sure. Ive been drinking mostly IPAs lately and have been discovering many many great ones and the Mojo IPA is one of the best.

Jeff says: Hands down, my recommendation for this week goes to Tucher for their Helles Hefe Weizen. This is one spicey hefeweizen, loaded with flavor. It hits your lips and literally blows you away.

Jon says: Click the name of the beer to see the official review for that beer.  The Sierra Nevada Kellerweis both me and any of you that try it because of me can thank Paul @ World of Beer UCF.

Jeff says: Haven't had too much beer over the past week, despite  the various brewery nights I've been too (ok ok, I just don't remember). But, I do need to highlight Victory Whirlwind Witbier. It's a quality white wheat that was a pleasure to drink, so it gets my weekly recommendation.

3/21/11

Jon says: My beer of the week is going to be one that I had pretty recently.  A very good imperial stout with an unbelievably smooth taste.  This weeks beer to have is Old Rasputin Imperial Stout.

Jeff says:

3/14/11

Jon says: In the mood for something smooth and different?  This week my beer selection will be Xingu Black Beer.  A good beer with an original taste, go out and try it!

Jeff says: I actually didn't have a lot of beers I truly enjoyed this past week. So, I'm going to have to stretch back another week and tag the runner up of last week's decision. That winner is Franziskaner Dunkel Hefe-Weisse. It was an amazingly dark and smooth, delicious beer. Strongly recommend if you're a dunkel or hefeweisen fan.

Jon says: If you keep up with our blog and updates my favorite for this week should come as no surprise. Its the tripel I reviewed and loved, Tripel Karmeliet.  I gave this beer a 9/10 and still would suggest anyone try this beer whenever possible if you haven't yet.

Jeff says: It was a very tough decision, but I think for this past week, my beer of the week goes to Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Creamy, chocolaty, and with coffee notes, it's everything in a stout you ever wanted, and then some. I gave it a 9/10 in my review.

on 2/28/11

Jon says: My beer for this week is Fullers London Porter.  Great porter with a great taste, I gave it a 9/10.  Very full and very tasty!

Jeff says: My beer for this week would have been Fuller's London Porter, but Jon beat me to the punch, so I'm going to have to go with Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale. I gave it an 8.5/10, and I really think it exemplifies the best of the brown ale style. Very tasty.

on 2/21/11

Jon says: yummy, Grimbergen Blonde.

Jeff says: so good I didn't have to recommend a beer. Ace Perry Cider.
